New Stairlift vs Reconditioned Stair Lifts

New Stairlift vs Reconditioned Stair Lifts

A stairlift is not a product anyone buys everyday and they can be an expensive investment so we have put together some pros and cons of both new and reconditioned stairlifts to help you choose what stairlift will be right for you

Advantages of a Reconditioned Stairlift

The main advantage is obviously the price. A reconditioned stairlift will usually be much cheaper than a brand new stairlift. At One Stop Mobility we offer great reconditioned stairtlifts at great prices. All our reconditioned stairlifts are less than 3 years old.

Disadvantages of a Reconditioned Stairlift

In many ways, buying a secondhand stair glide can be as reliable as buying a new one. However, there are a number of disadvantages that you need to be aware of.

1. It virtually impossible to find secondhand curved track for a stairlift as they need to be bespoke made to fit the flight of stairs. However we can offer you a bespoke made track with a reconditioned chair which greatly reduces the cost.

2. Buying a used stairlift from anyone other than a reputable stairlift company is dangerous as if there is a problem with the stairlift there will be no after service.

3. Faults are more common in used models. If your supplier has not provided a comprehensive warranty this can be expensive. However experience has lead us to fitting only the most reliable models on  the market to minimise this risk.

6. Finding replacement parts for secondhand models can be difficult, especially if the model is no longer available. This is why at One Stop mobility we only fit the latest stairlift model, never more than 3 years old.

Overview

If you are going to buy a reconditioned stair lift make sure you buy it from a reputable stairlift dealer. Make sure the stairlift comes with a comprehensive warranty. Also make sure the stairlift has been rigorously checked and all worn parts have been replaced.

Perch Stairlifts

A perch or stand on stairlift is a great stairlift solution for those people that have difficulty bending their knees to achieve a sitting position. This style of stairlift enables you to perch on a higher smaller seat that is on a usual stairlift. The seat is usually mounted above the lift motor. The benefits of this type of stairlift is the users legs can be extended without the need to bend to a right angle for seating. There is generally a fold down footrest mounted on the bottom of the motor mechanism in which to place ones feet.perch stairlift

Stairlift used in Comic Relief Show

May 26th, 2011

An Acorn Stairlift was used on the recent Comic Relief show as part of a performance and proved to be an effectiove money raising tactic for the fund raising charity.

Comic Relief were able to raise around £74 million from various donations, for which the money was contributed to a number of well deserved causes.

The Stairlift engineers were only in the studio for a matter of hours installing the stairlift. As is the efficiency and ease of fully preparing a stairlift for use nowadays.

Housing minister Grant Shapps has recently announced that £180 million of funding is going to be used to assist local authorities in fitting mobility aids such as stairlifts.
